“Well, so much for our second moon...”
It was the first word said on the Atlantis after the disappearance of the un-asteroid. It was from Ken Borden.
“Damn.”
Boston Low and his crew were missing. That meant Houston had a problem. A very big problem.
Cora Miles was still in her trance, awestruck by the spectacle that just took place. Borden decided it was timeto take some action. He notified the people in charge, below their orbit around Earth about what happened.
“The asteroid has vanished with Low, Brink, and Robbins inside.” It seemed to change appearance just before moving a short distance, at which it left our sensors and...went to a galaxy far, far away....” Borden faded off into silence, saddened by the event in debate.
“Do you have any knowledge of the missing crew members? Are their pen communicators still operational?” a voice from Mission Control said.
In response, Borden tried communicating with the others. Miles joined along.
“Boston? Can you hear me? Boston!!!”
Cora tried calling Maggie.
“Maggie! Maggie Robbins! Are you there?!”
Brink was not responding, either.
In a frantic voice, Cora Miles exclaimed, “Ken, try tracking their units!”
Ken did only to find that they were clear off the map. Out of range by many light years. He told the news to the
people below, who were running amok trying to get some more data about their predicament.
There was nothing that could be done. The shuttle “Atlantis” returned to Earths atmosphere.
Without the 3 crew members that had made the mission a success.
After 2 days of news, cover-ups and total hell on Earth, NASA picked up an object on their screens. The object descended into the atmosphere and landed right near the launch pad that the Atlantis departed
from, 3 days ago.
It was transparent and clear, yet it was reflective. It was smooth and hard. Curveless. 3 beings were visible from outside. They advanced toward the wall and stepped through it, as if it were made of water. It was Boston, Maggie, and Ludger. Boston and Maggie held hands, and Ludger stood beside them.
Brink’s appearance had aged. His face was now covered with wrinkles. Maggie didn't look that much older, becauseof her very brief death. Boston just looked like he was glad to be home, although he looked a bit tired. He just
wanted to get back to the place that he enjoyed most. Maggie decided to say a few words.
“I am so glad to be home again! I will tell you more on the news tomorrow about what happened to us and what will be possible in the future.”
“Good idea, Maggie, I think we all need some rest after this,” Boston said privately.
Brink, overhearing Boston, said in acknowledgment, “Ja, zat would be nice. I can’t wait to sleep with my heart working!”
All three of them laughed together for a moment, before departing.
The world was going to change. Cocytan and human would unite and learn from one another. The Earth would no longer have wars against itself. It would be a place of peace.
The messenger waited for others to step inside, before going back to the revived Cocytus. A new beginning was coming into effect, all thanks to Boston Low, and his crew, who freed a species from their own power and made a peace between us and them...
