The Curse of Monkey Island: Novelization
Epilogue

They did more than simply watch it burn, of course--as soon as Guybrush was able to walk around, they dismantled or re-rerouted every trace of LeChuck's insidious roller coaster of death. They found the secret cave beneath the earth where the pirate had hidden his captive monkeys and unchained them. They went down into the diorama exhibit and set Wally free. And, finally, they found the room where LeChuck lay buried and sealed it off as best as they could, hoping to ensure that no one else would ever find his frozen body. Then, at last, they set about trying to find their way home.

It took a long time, and even more adventures, but finally Guybrush and Elaine stood in the chapel of her fort on Plunder Island, embarking on the greatest adventure of all--holy matrimony.

"Do you, Guybrush Threepwood...?"

"I do."

"And do you, Elaine Marley...?"

I do."

Everyone they knew was there--the Barbery pirates (Haggis was Guybrush's best man), Blondebeard, Kenny, Wally, Lemonhead and a handful of his Blood Island tribe, who had come with them hoping to find better homes on Plunder. Even the Voodoo Priestess had shown up to give her blessing. Griswold, now faring remarkably well in his prosperous hotel-resort on Blood Island, sent his regards to Vegetable Goodsoup. In short, it was a perfect wedding.

The Sea Cucumber sported a "Just Married" sign as they stood in the stern, waving goodbye (actually, Guybrush did most of the waving). And they ended their adventure as all good adventures should end, by sailing off into the sunset.

If an observer could have been on Monkey Island at that moment, he or she would have seen a small, bone-colored object on a shelf, muttering. "Run mortal...but do not forget your arch-nemesis Murray!! Mark my words, I shall return to haunt you! Do you hear me?! I shall return!!! Bwahahahahaha!!" And then..."This is so unfair..."

Quite some time later, in another part of the Carnival, a man was telling his young son. "Rumor has it that the man who built this place is buried here. And they say that, to this day, his frozen body remains in the tunnels, somewhere beneath the amusement park."

And so the story goes on...
