Updates

Sunday 23rd November 2003
Well, it's been several years, but there's finally a new novelization on the website: Escape From Monkey Island. This novelization is unique in that it's actually a collaboration, with none other than Heather Oglevie of the late lamented Definitive Monkey Island Website. Believe it or not we started work on this over three years ago, so either we're perfectionists or else really, really lazy.

With the novel going up I've also uploaded some Text Dumps taken from the game. These have all the dialogue lines and descriptions (except those in the cutscenes), and were compiled with the help of Luadump 0.2 and the EMI LAB file extractor. There's a special easter egg in there if you want to go hunting, see if you can find it :)

An update only two days later? Must be a glitch in the Matrix. Well, this is what you've all been waiting for... the return of Space Pirates! There are four more chapters of the insanity for you to ingest. Start here if you're already familiar with the series, or else this should see you all sorted. Now I'll be off, I've got something else to convert and upload...

You know, I think it's been a while since we updated. Time moves slowly in the LucasArts Fiction universe. But Mojo's back, so we better have something for you, right?

Right. First story of note is the entire first volume of Tyraa Rane's new epic, The Second Element. This is a must read. Since I know you're going to drop everything and rush straight to the story, I'll pad in some space while you're all gone.

Back? Good. Next, you'll be glad to know that The Sovereign of Monkey Island is back, with the long awaited Chapter 3! Operation Guybrush is progressing nicely too, with chapters 5 and 6 turning up.

In the new stuff, we have a couple of stories from the same author: A Chance Encounter With Murray and The Monkey of Monkey Island. And if you're after that wacky surrealist throwing gags at the wall Monkey Island humor, you'll be well served with Monkey Island: Pirate and The Wrath of the EVIL Flooring Inspector.

LucasArts Fiction: something for everyone since 1998...

As promised, here's the first "catching up on the backlog" update. First off, I've deleted a story from the site. No, I'm not going to tell you which one. Suffer.

Turning to the stuff that's actually being added to the site, we have:

Please note that we're not even close to clearing out all the backlog. There's more to come...

Wednesday 8th September 2003
Well, as you can see, the Mojo hacker attack hasn't killed us. We live. This is just a "hey, I uploaded all my webfiles okay!" update, but I can promise there will be more activity here very soon. For one thing, there's a few stories to catch up on we missed during the downtime, then there's something bigger which you'll just have to wait and see on, and after that... but I might be getting ahead of myself here.

Okay, there actually is some news to relate here. First of all, not all the Mojo sites are back. So the link to the Grim Fandango novel is down for the moment. I've put up a temporary link to a zipfile containing the novel.

Also, the Definitive Monkey Island page, once hosted by Mojo, will not be returning. Sadly. So I've got Heather's permission to host the Curse of Monkey Island novel here. And...

...nah, you can wait.

One month between updates. Yes, it's been slow around here - but that's about to change, because guess what we've got lined up for you:

That's all for now. Cripes, roll on Sam and Max 2...

Sunday 9th February 2003
It's an all star lineup this week. First off, McPirate's saga The Beginning has finished! (No really, read the credits). The Sovereign of Monkey Island is also back, with chapter 2a (that's right).

And if that wasn't enough, we also have a Monkey Island / Pokemon crossover, and the oldest Monkey Island fanfic ever written. Get reading!

A hefty swag of new fanfic this time around:

That's the new fanfics. I've uploaded a new misting to the My Stuff section. It's a group misting, my part was just to write some riffs. The fanfic itself has nothing to do with Monkey Island, it's a Star Trek fanfic written by Stephen Ratliff and set in the Marrissaverse, so you'll need to do a little background reading first. Head to the Ratliff Misting Archive and read Time Speeder and Away From Home, at the least. You'll be glad you did, both are excellent.

It's catching up on old favorites week. Up and readable we have two new chapters for I Went There, the epic Horatio Marley story, a brand new book in the Bigger Whoop saga, and the latest shenanigans from Monkey Island 5: Operation Guybrush. Enjoy.

Sunday 5th January 2003
We're back! (Imagine our delight. --readers). Yes, it's been a long dormant period here at LucasArts Fiction, and there's a lot of backlog to get through. But not today. Slow and steady wins the race, right?

First of all, Space Pirates has updated! Three new chapters up. And we've got two new stories up: Legends Speak of Monkey Island, and The Disease of Monkey Island. Both minor classics, and I'm not saying that just to be a suckup.

Future updates to come, and hopefully some fairly big additions...
