Updates

Friday 20th September 2002
Back again. The fifth chapter of McPirate's The Beginning is here at last, and also I Went There has gained a new chapter.

New stuff: A second story called Return to Monkey Island, this one by Brandon Ghislain. And a short but very memorable excursion from Sephi called The Conquest of Moneky Island. (No, that wasn't a typo...)

Friday 6th September 2002
Well, a new Sam and Max game being developed. Is that good news? Hell yes. But in the meantime, you probably want to know what new fics we've got this time around. Well, there's two newies: I Went There (it's a story about Herman), and Monkey Island Wars (you'll work that one out quickly enough). Plus new chapters for Monkey Island 5: Operation Guybrush, The Secret of Monkey Mountain, and The Book of Bigger Whoop.

But it don't end there. In the big news of the day, LucasArts Fiction has finally gotten itself permission to host the stories on The Definitive Monkey Island page (including the humongous-sized Magic of Monkey Island trilogy)! So say hello to

And there's more to come, but that can wait for the future. A big thank you to Heather, and be sure to visit Definitive for me, as there's still lots of great content to be had.

By my count, there's now 103 stories on this site, with eighty in the Monkey Island section. Adding up all the other content and doing a very rough calculation gives me a total of about 1.4 million words available on this site. That oughta keep you busy.

Tuesday 20th August 2002
Well, as you can see, LucasArts Fiction has just moved to newer, spiffier quarters. It did take a while to get sorted out, but I'd like to thank DJG and Metallus for their help. Probably there'll be a few new people here for this update, so take a look around, see what you like.

Now, the new fanfics. Should be a lot this time, right? Correct. To start with, a new section has been added to the Other Stories page, Full Throttle. Two of Ben_Whatsisname's stories from The Kickstand have been added: Full Throttle: Dark Origin and Full Throttle: Trail of Fire. Also, the mega-huge Tomb Raider crossover, Ben & Lara. Incidentally, Ben_Whatsisname has also just opened a Zak McKracken fansite, which is currently featuring a misting of the Zak novelization from this very site!. So go over there and read it, you know it's funny.

On the Monkey Island side of things, we have new chapters for The Beginning and Out Of Madness. Plus a number of new stories: Escape from the Carnival of Dammed [sic], Monkey Island V: LeChuck Strikes Back, The Secret of Monkey Mountain, and The Uncovering of Monkey Island. And dammit, I'm still not through all the backlog...

Finally, if you like Monkey Island fanfiction and can read Spanish, then take a look here. Just don't ask me what the story's about: guess I could try Babelfish, but I don't trust it to give me the gist of things.

Just a single story today, Chapter two of Allegro Rasputin: Pirate to Priest

Sunday 11th August 2002
Another large batch of novels this time around. First of all, Space Pirates is back! And didn't we all miss it. Chapter 3 of The Beginning is up, along with the next chapter from Monkey Island 5 - Operation Guybrush, plus a couple of brand new ones: The Book of Bigger Whoop and The Child of Monkey Island.

Also, a new misting! Well, an old one actually, with some new riffs. Go ahead, spoil yourself...

Monday 22nd July 2002
We are back! Sorry for the delay, and no doubt you'll be expecting a big swag of new novels. Well, here goes:

In news elsewhere on the planet, The Kickstand, the best Full Throttle fansite on the net, has returned, bringing with it some interesting fanfiction. Some of which we may be seeing here at LucasArts Fiction in future updates...

Friday 10th May 2002
Grim Fandango novelist and fanfic writer Charles Frederick has had his work featured at the Grim Fandango Network. Take a look, why doncha?

In other news, The Beginning, an interesting new take on the Monkey Island universe, has been put up. More is promised! And Chapter 5 of Every Grog Has Its Day is up. No, really. Take a look if you don't believe me...

Sunday 5th May 2002
It has been a long time since the last update, hasn't it? Hopefully the size of this one should make up for the delay. First of all, in the Monkey Island section we've got the brand new stories Stan Kicks Previously-Owned Butt by Haggis. Also, a long-lost classic has been added, The Memoirs of Guybrush Threepwood, off the net for some time but back at last. Plus the latest chapter of Space Pirates.

The Grim Fandango section has seen a huge overhaul, however, with twelve stories added, all from the LSA homepage. I wasn't able to get in touch with the authors of these stories, so if you're one of them, please get in touch and let me know if you want your story kept, or removed.

Tuesday 2nd April 2002
So, the MI5 announcement turned out to be a fake, did it? Boy, I never saw that one coming...

Anyway, time to come clean, yesterday's announcement about the end of Space Pirates was also an April Fool's gag (what a crappy gag - readers). Chapter 81 of the series is up.

Monday 1st April 2002
Update time again. There's two new stories in the Dig section, while The Power of Monkey Island and Voodoo Alive have new chapters. No new Space Pirate stuff though. I was getting tired of the series, so I think I'll just leave it hanging...

Sunday 10th March 2002
Lotsa new stuff this time around: new chapters for Every Grog Has Its Day, The Power of Monkey Island, Voodoo Alive, and of course Space Pirates.

But the bigger news, which has hopefully made the wait for this update worth it, is that LucasArts Fiction now hosts Non-Monkey Island stories. Sections for Grim Fandango and The Dig have been added. I'd love to add more, but unfortunately I just can't seem to find fanfic for other LucasArts adventure games (no, Indy fanfic doesn't count). Anyone got any leads?

A total of six stories are up at the moment, but this section should expand in the coming weeks. So you know what to do...

Sunday 03rd February 2002
Another two chapters of The Power of Monkey Island have turned up. Also, another chapter of Space Pirates.

Sunday 20th January 2002
I bet we're all wondering what those "new titles" LucasArts are hinting at are, aren't we? Here's hoping there's an adventure game in the mix... In the new stuff this week, there's the first three chapters of The Power of Monkey Island, and the first three chapters of Every Grog Has Its Day, plus another chapter of Space Pirates.

Sunday 6th January 2002
It's a brand new year here at LucasArts Fiction, the website that just keeps on giving. Forget gold, frankincense and myrrh... we've got The Doom of Monkey Island, Murray's Search for his Body, A New Adventure and the first two chapters of Voodoo Alive. Not to mention the latest two chapters of Space Pirates. Now is that a bumper stocking or what?
