Thursday 28th October 2004 Just the one story today, but it's absolutely huge: a 70,000+ word Grim Fandango novel, by VampireNaomi, called Empty Eye Sockets:"There's still time. Maybe we can find a nice and quiet spot later," she suggested playfully. You really should check it out.
Thursday 21st October 2004 Grim Fandango again today, with four more stories from VampireNaomi:
Wednesday 20th October 2004 Well, that Grim Fandango update I referred to last time is here: some of it, anyway. Via the wonderfully stacked Grim Fandango section of Fanfiction.net, we have new author VampireNaomi, who has contributed no less than seven GF stories -- and that's just this update. Rather than list them all individually I'll just invite you to head to the Grim Fandango fanfics section and browse. These stories are all strong on character insight, so be prepared to look at the GF universe in a new way..."Dom, what's your screen saver password? Britney Spears?" he asked. Domino snorted.Errm, maybe not the best illustrative example. Let me try another: "Something in this world has to be beautiful." Meche insisted. She didn't like thinking that this whole world was corrupted and dirty. Domino snorted.Hmmm, yeah. That's more like it. Go read em.
Monday 18th October 2004 I had planned on doing a big Grim Fandango update today, but something turned up important enough to warrant its own special update. Yes, that's right -- LucasArts Fiction has got a new novel! Tyraa Rane, of whom you should know, has done a neat Full Throttle novelization:"You know," he said casually, "I've never liked nose rings."It's better than a certain cable gaming show, that's for sure. Go read, now.
Thursday 14th October 2004 Added some more updates, this time to a couple of long-running Monkey Island fanfics.First up, we have chapter 7 of I Went There: "Ahar! I sees that I have some guests," he said. He grabbed my collar and pulled me up close. I could count the craters in his face. His beard was wet and soppy like the hair of a wet dog. His breath smelt of curdled milk poured over moldy cheese.Truly delicious. Next, we have another chapter 7, this for the even longer running Monkey Island 5: Operation Guybrush. Sample quote: "Well..." Elaine moves forward slightly, seductively. "I really need a favour, as I'm in a bit of bother at the moment." She sighs gently, wrapping a finger round one of her chestnut curls. What's going on here? Give it a read and find out. So, these two lengthy serials are still running. Could some even longer-delayed stories be coming up soon?
Wednesday 13th October 2004 A Grim Fandango update today, from an author you should already be familiar with: Tyraa Rane. Tyraa's written a prequel explaining just how it was Manny came to be down on his luck. Also, here's a link to some rather curious LucasArts game audio. Old link, but then I don't remember any of the major fansite carrying a news item about this. Guess it's not exactly something you'd want your grandmother to hear though...
Tuesday 12th October 2004 Well, that "month or so" turned out to be a little longer, didn't it? Luckily, I find myself rather keen to get back on the update trail, so let's see what's come along this time.As it turned out, a new section. I got sent some Monkey Island wallpaper by Chad White a while back, and after a mixup with the World of Monkey Island that isn't worth recounting, and it was my fault anyway -- it turns we've been blessed with a spiffy new Images page: The page looks rather austere, I know. If you've got something creative, why not send it here?
Saturday 29th May 2004 As it turns out, Tyraa has another story already - The Offer, a short prequel that explores interesting ideas on the Guybrush/LeChuck relationship. And Maniac Mansion Revisited, which I have since learned is in fact called Into the Arms of Madness, is back with second chapter goodness. There's lots of stuff on the backlog at the moment, but just for the next month or so I won't have time to attend to it much. But thereafter you can expect a large Grim Fandango update, expanded categories, and possibly even a redesign...
Sunday 15th May 2004 And a nice little next-day update just to keep things ticking. Only item added, but a biggie: the continuation of Tyraa Rane's Second Element series. Part one of the trilogy, Through A Glass Darkly, has been added to the site. And Tyraa's already started on the third, so hopefully we'll soon see the conclusion...
Saturday 14th May 2004 We return, alive and kicking. Without preamble, here's what awaits you in this round of updates:
Elsewhere Charles Frederick, author of the ace Grim Fandango novel, finally has his own webpage. Clicky here. And that's all. Right here I should probably insert a witty sign-off to bring the post to a satisfying conclusion... nup. Can't think of anything. |
